Municipal wastewater

Municipal wastewater is that flow of water which was used by any commodity. It contains residues or waste which is harmful for environment and make it unsuitable for human usage purposes. Waste in water may vary from place to place and its density. Waste may be found in liquid, solid, or gas form in water. It contains lot of toxins.

Wastewater can be divided on the basis of use of water and waste it contains. Domestic wastewater includes waste from bathroom, kitchen, laundry, ant other waste poured by people while sanitary wastewater consists of domestic wastewater with industrial wastewater. It includes waste discharged by commercial, institutional, and others.

On the basis of waste municipal wastewater can be categorized as

Chemically wastewater: Waste consists of organic and inorganic compounds with gases. They may be carbohydrates, fats, pesticides, sulfur etc.

Physically wastewater: Waste consists of solid particles of sand, sludge etc which can not be dissolved in water. It can be characterized by grey color, odor etc.

Biologically wastewater: Waste consists of various microorganisms like plant includes ferns, mosses, liverworts, animals, and protista like bacteria, fungi etc.
