Dewatering System
Dewatering is a process by which we can remove water non-thermally means without or with little application of heat. Water is bound to the structure of various products by mechanical and chemical binding. By dewatering process weakest binding of water is removed mechanically or without the application of heat. It saves lot of energy
In dewatering system polymers are added to product. Each particles of product have either positive charge or negative charge. Solid starts binding into large polymer molecules when polymer of opposite charge is added in it. This process release water from product. Polymers are very expensive but by optimizing polymer addition rate we can save operating cost.
Advantage of dewatering process against thermal drying is that it is more suitable for heat sensitive products. Another advantage is that it requires less energy as compared to thermal drying. Even little heat applied to product during dewatering process leads to the positive quality effects. It’s an ideal process for heat sensitive products like sea foods etc.
Dewatering of sludge includes adding of cationic organic flocculants at first stage then at second stage adding of thereto which is an anionic organic flocculants and then subjected to dewatering process includes anaerobic digestion, aerobic digestion, composting etc. Dewatering through adding polymers is very costly process then others.
